Established under the Infrastructure and Jobs Act in November of 2021, the Broadband Equity, Accessibility, and Deployment (BEAD) program includes $42.45 billion dedicated to expand high-speed internet access by financing planning, infrastructure deployment, and adoption programs in all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. To qualify for BEAD funding, network builds must use construction materials and manufactured products that comply to BABAA standards. - Build America Buy America Act: The Build America Buy America Act enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on November 15, 2021, established a domestic content procurement preference for all Federal financial assistance obligated for infrastructure projects after May 14, 2022. The domestic content procurement preference requires that all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in covered infrastructure projects are produced in the United States.
